Lakes, forest and hamlets
Montiggl | Eppan
The spring valley, the forest and the Montiggl lakes
Very idyllic, situated between picturesque orchards and vineyards and the dense Montiggl forest, is the small village of Montiggl | Eppan with its approximately 100 inhabitants.
The original Romanesque name "Admonticolo" appropriately means "small mountain, small elevation". The centre of the village is the church of the Three Kings, whose steeple bell was cast in 1505 and still rings today. Around it are old farmhouses and traditional stables.
All year round, the Montiggl nature reserve is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peace and nature. From gentle exercise to sporting challenges, there is something for everyone. As soon as the first rays of the warming sun reach the ground, innumerable spring wildflowers, liverworts and snowdrops blossom here in the spring valley between the Montiggl lakes and Lake Kaltern further south. Hardly anywhere else in South Tyrol do the first signs of spring sprout from the earth as early as here.
In summer, carefree bathing is guaranteed, because from the natural shores of the two Montiggl lakes, jumping into the cool water is twice as much fun. For those who still don't want to do without the amenities of a swimming pool, the "Lido" at the large Montiggl Lake and the sunbathing lawn with small snack station at the small Montiggl Lake are just right.
Various events also enliven the small village of Montiggl | Eppan and the surrounding region. As if in a fairy tale, for example, the Seeschlössl lies directly on the western shore of the large Montiggl Lake. Built in medieval style, it is a perfect picture motif that blends in beautifully with the landscape. The windows with pointed arches and gables with stair-shaped ends create a fairytale atmosphere.
The "Montiggler Weis(s)e" event presents wines from the region every two years. Fine wines and delicious snacks make for an enjoyable summer evening.
In the hotels, holiday flats and private rentals in Montiggl | Eppan, everything is geared towards relaxation, enjoyment and active experiences in the midst of nature.
