The producers
EPPAN WEIN brings together 20 wine producers, sparkling wine producers and distilleries, all of whom have their own signature and a great deal of flair. They have dedicated themselves to a common cause: The love of wine, in which the character of Eppan is reflected. In doing so, they rely on an impressive variety of historical, autochthonous and international grape varieties that are always deeply connected to the area - wine culture typical of the region that seeks encounters with open senses. Centuries-old traditions merge with the most modern production methods and produce wines that are hard to beat in terms of richness of facets and elegance. The fact that the name EPPAN WEIN says it all also includes the high quality of its products, because EPPAN WEIN is not least a sign of quality: each of the EPPAN WEIN producers is a guarantor of the very highest quality.
The wine region of Eppan
EPPAN WEIN is wine from Eppan and thus the protagonist of the largest wine-growing region in South Tyrol. It owes the high quality of its products not least to its privileged geographical location, because in Eppan, sun-drenched vineyards and the Alps, which protect against harsh winds, go hand in hand: located directly on the wine route just 10 km south-west of Bolzano, the Mediterranean hills and the Mendelkamm ridge, which defies cold currents, create the perfect conditions for a living wine-growing tradition with a southern zest for life. Mainly white but also red grape varieties grow on 941 hectares of vineyards and benefit from the mild alpine-continental climate, the cool downslope winds and the variety of sites in the Überetsch and Unterland regions, which form the ideal breeding ground for high-quality grapes - the calcareous, well-aerated gravel soils, which were created by the removal of glaciers and subsequent erosion, offer the best conditions for harvesting full-bodied grapes. Eppan is not only the largest wine-growing community in South Tyrol, but also number one when it comes to Pinot Blanc, which can develop its full potential here. A total of 20 different grape varieties are cultivated in Eppan: Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau ripen in the fertile vineyards, as do the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Merlot, Lagrein and various types of Vernatsch.
Good wine rarely comes alone
The wine village of Eppan is known far beyond the borders of South Tyrol for its gastronomic sophistication and delicious culinary delights. Down-to-earth and traditional South Tyrolean home cooking can be found here as well as Mediterranean delicacies. The restaurants and inns; Zur Rose, Acquarol, Paulserhof, Rungghof, Steinegger, Turmbach and many more are also located here. Regionality, freshness and the highest quality are the essence of their art, because only where there is good in it, outstanding things are produced
