Fascinating triad
St. Michael | Eppan
…results in a harmonious trio of territory, people and history
St. Michael | Eppan is the largest village in the municipality of Eppan on the Wine Road and its cultural and economic centre. The Überetsch architectural style characterises its face, recognisable by the numerous impressive residences and cultural monuments with their crenellated walls, oriels, double-arched windows or open staircases. Examples of this late Gothic architecture with influences from the Italian Renaissance are the Wohlgemuth manor house in Kalterer Street, the Talegg manor house in Maderneid Street or the Eppan cemetery.
The most famous excursion destinations include the Gleifchurch, which towers above St. Michael | Eppan, the St. Michael-Eppan winery with its fine wines and the Maria Rast Church, a romantic little chapel slightly outside the centre of the village.
In the summer months, the park of St. Michael | Eppan becomes the stage for various club festivals, but also for regional and international music groups. From April to November, a weekly market enlivens the car park in front of the parish church of St. Michael | Eppan on Tuesdays. Farmers offer their handmade products there and a wide variety of clothing and items for everyday use can also be snapped up. The popular extended shopping evenings "Eppaner Sternstunden" in July and August invite you to stroll through the picturesque alleys of Eppan and enjoy refreshing drinks and exquisite South Tyrolean wines in the village centre alongside South Tyrolean delicacies. The bike scene meets in Eppan in spring at the eppanBike | Days. Exciting tours with South Tyrolean bike guides, idyllic pleasure routes and adventurous trails through the Montiggl forest await you.
Another highlight of the year is certainly the Advent season and the associated Christmas campaign of the merchants of Eppan and Kaltern, "Das große Los im Überetsch". As part of eppanAdvent, the "LichterWeihnacht" takes place in St. Michael | Eppan. Through the lantern-lined alleys you reach the Christmas-decorated village centre, which shines in a very special light. In the middle of the town hall square stands the unique four-metre-high Eppan lantern, made by local craftsmen. In addition to relaxing Christmas music, there are all kinds of culinary delights at the cosy Christmas stalls and during the evening guided tours with a night watchman, you will learn exciting stories and anecdotes from times long past.
From the hotels, holiday flats and farm holidays in St. Michael | Eppan you can reach all the other fractions, as well as the Montiggl lakes and Lake Kaltern in just a few minutes.
