Three castles hike

Discover three unique historical buildings at once

The Eppan Castle Triangle is located at the foot of the Gantkofel. On an art-historical hike you get an impression of "medieval South Tyrol".

The castle hike leads to the Eppan Castle Triangle. First you reach Hocheppan Castle, one of the most important fortified buildings in South Tyrol. After a visit to the so-called "Sistine Chapel of the Alps" of the Hocheppan Castle Chapel and a rest in the castle tavern, the hike continues to the Boymont Castle ruins. A little below is Schloss Hotel Korb, which dates back to the Romanesque period and today houses a hotel.

Route description:

Via trail no. 9, the hike initially leads level, then steadily uphill past the Unterhauser Weinstadl and the chalk tower up to Hocheppan Castle with the Romanesque castle chapel and the wide view over the Etsch Valley to the Dolomites. Continue on hiking trail no. 9A through the Hocheppan valley and over a 60-metre-long, secured staircase to the ruins of Boymont Castle. From there it takes 15 minutes to get back to the starting point at Schloss Hotel Korb.
