The last load of grapes in Girlan

Like in grandfather's times, the last load of grapes is brought to the Tannerhof in the centre of the village in a tub by an old festively decorated cart. The wagon is decorated with a harvest wreath on which a wine saying is read every year.

Once at the Tannerhof, the grapes are pressed in a historic wine press and the fresh grape must is offered to visitors for tasting. All this happens under the strict and watchful eye of the "Saltner", the historical vineyard keeper whose job was once to chase away and deter birds and thieves in the vineyard.
